Career Teacher, Math Coach
My name is Suzie, and I am excited to be teaching at Champion Education! I was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Psychology. I spent several years working at a group home and then decided to return to school. I received my K-5 teaching certification from Meredith College and have been teaching for the past 23 years. I've worked in Brunswick and Johnston Counties, but most of my career has been in Wake County teaching 5th and 2nd grades. The last 4 years I have worked as a math instructional coach and have enjoyed increasing my understanding of how children learn math. I want all children to believe that they are good at math and to enjoy solving problems! I try to make math lessons engaging and at each student's developmental level. It is my hope that students not only increase their knowledge and understanding of grade level skills, but increase their confidence and critical thinking as well. During our online math camp, we will use a variety of virtual tools like math manipulatives and videos to make the lessons interactive and engaging.
