Overview

Students will learn to speak with confidence and clarity in this course, presenting persuasive arguments in the debate competition. Students will explore different aspects of life during the debate practices, no matter big or small, to help form good decision-making abilities and critical thinking.

College Professor, Federal Government Senior Executive Officer

Mary Bauer is a college professor who also enjoys working with younger students. She is an adjunct professor of writing, business communication (a course that culminates in a Shark Tank competition!), and English at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She previously taught literature, writing,
Catholic studies and French at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut and continues to teach some courses remotely for this institution.

Mary’s work with younger children includes conducting a “Kids Choir” for Big Brother Big Sister and coaching students in research and public speaking skills at a summer camp for Capitol Debate. She also teaches business communication to high school students under a dual enrollment program with Aquinas College.

A retired federal government senior executive officer, Mary has briefed Cabinet officials and Congressional committees. She has extensive experience in leadership development and improving
organizational communication.

She was awarded an Academics for Creative Teaching Grant for the academic year 2016-17 and a Mini-Grant for the 2019-2020 academic year.

  • 50% refund, notice us less than 7 days and more than 3 days before the online session start date.

  • No refund; notice us less than 3 days before the start of the online camp session. 

  • If an online class cancellation is made by Champion Camp due to low enrollment, there will be a full refund for tuition. Any class cancellation will be announced at least 7 days before the session starts.
