This course teaches the basic techniques of drawing in pencil, inking with pen and brush, and painting with watercolors. Students will learn Terminology, shading, inking techniques, color theory, use of watercolors.

Course Projects

Project 3: Inking thick and thin lines close to each other to make a grayscale chart. Drawing the outline of an object with thick and thin lines to indicate weight and position

Project 6: Using ink wash to make a grayscale chart and shading an object using ink wash

Project 9: Coloring the previous week’s illustration

 

 

 

Materials

*Prepare your own materials

• Pencils with various hardness (at least one HB pencil, one something-H pencil, and one something-B pencil)

• Pencil sharpener

• Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser (only need one

• Black Pigma Micron pens (various sizes)

• Dr. Ph. Martin’s Waterproof India Ink 1 fl oz/ 30 ml bottle (one bottle)

• Watercolor brushes various sizes (Please have 2 separate sets, one for inking and one for watercolor)

• Strathmore bristol board Series 300, 90lb paper, 40 sheets
