What You Will Learn

This course teaches the basics of creating comics, with the goal of students producing their own personalized comic books and comic strips. The course is open to beginners and experienced artists alike. Students will learn Comics-related terminology, cartooning techniques, comics theory as a medium, visual storytelling, lettering, and scriptwriting for comics.

Project 2: Designing/ drawing a new character and showing them in action (inking if penciling is complete)

Materials

*Prepare your own materials

• Pencils with various hardness (at least 1 HB pencil, 1 something-H pencil, and 1 something-B pencil)

• Pencil sharpener Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser (Quantity:1)

• Black Pigma Micron pens (various sizes）

• Strathmore bristol board Series 300, 90lb paper, 40 sheets

• Ruler (Quantity:1)

• 8.5 x 11 inch printer paper (at least 48 sheets, or four for each class)

I have also produced many comics, illustrations, and prose stories that have been self-published. I earned a BFA in Cartooning from the School of Visual Arts and a BS in Biology from the City University of New York.
